Micro hydro electricity  generation utilises the energy of falling water to generate electricity. This is not to be confused with large hydro dam projects. There is no negative effect on water stream as it is simply diverting a portion of water and returning it back to the stream.

Hydro generator is a steady source of electricity round the clock compared to P V generated electricity which is only 6 hours of full sunshine a day.  A hydro generator producing 10 amps round the clock matches the suitable power generated by more than 40 amps of solar modules.  Also hydro generators give constant output of electricity against variable power by P V panels as per sunshine. So the cost is lot lower with hydro generators.

Pelton wheel generators need comparatively small volume of water realised to high pressure by running down hill in pipeline.

The pelton turbine can be attached directly on generator or can be connected on separate shaft and pulley. This depends on individual design and site condition.The pelton wheels generally operate at 4 bar and ore of water pressure.A good design system can give 50% of generator efficiency.
